Our Story

Founded with love by cancer survivors, Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids opened its doors on February 15, 2001. This grassroots movement began in 1996, led by local philanthropist Twink Frey, who recognized the need for social and emotional support for those affected by cancer. Inspired by Gilda Radner, the organization aims to provide essential emotional healthcare to individuals and families navigating cancer and grief.

Impact

Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids offers free emotional healthcare to children, adults, families, and friends on any cancer journey or those grieving a loss. As one of the largest independent affiliates in North America, it plays a vital role in a global network supporting individuals impacted by cancer.
