Our Story
In the fall of 1917, a devastating fire at George Wolf's barn highlighted the urgent need for organized fire protection in Getzville. This tragedy united local leaders to establish the Getzville Fire Company, beginning with a humble chemical truck housed in a small shed. As the community grew, so did the fire company, leading to the construction of a larger fire station in 1924. Community events, such as dances and picnics, were vital for fundraising, with dedicated volunteers seeking donations to support operations. Today, the Getzville Fire Company stands as the busiest and largest fire district in the town of Amherst, committed to safeguarding lives and property.
