Our Story

The Gerrittsen Beach Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1922, serves as a vital lifeline for the community of Gerrittsen Beach, Brooklyn. Born from the ashes of a devastating fire in 1921, this dedicated team of volunteers has grown to 30 members, operating a fleet of four fire and EMS apparatus. Responding to over 500 calls annually, the department has transformed from a small garage into a fully operational firehouse and training center.
