Our Story

The Georgia Piedmont Land Trust was founded nearly 25 years ago by dedicated Gwinnett County residents who recognized the urgent need to protect open spaces and river corridors during a time of rapid development. Originally named the Gwinnett Open Land Trust, the organization has since expanded its reach and now safeguards over 2,600 acres across northern Georgia. Accredited as a land trust since 2015, GPLT collaborates with various partners to ensure the conservation of vital lands for future generations.

Our Impact

GPLT has successfully protected over 2,600 acres of land, including significant historical sites and diverse ecosystems. By working closely with local communities and partners, the organization contributes to the ecological health and quality of life for residents in multiple counties.
