Our Story

The Georgia First Amendment Foundation was established in 1994 as a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for government transparency, free speech rights, and access to public information in Georgia. By educating citizens, public officials, journalists, and lawyers on Georgia’s open records and free speech laws, GFAF promotes these essential values across the state.

Impact

GFAF has successfully advocated for increased penalties against government entities that fail to provide access to public meetings and records. Through numerous workshops, the foundation educates citizens and officials about their rights, achieving significant legislative gains in free speech rights in Georgia.
