Our Story

Established in 1961 with the support of the Lions Clubs of Georgia, Georgia Eye Bank has a proud history of serving individuals in need of sight restoration. Initially located at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, it became affiliated with Emory University in 1974 and has since grown into an independent organization, providing ocular tissue for transplants and research across Georgia and beyond.

Impact

Since its inception, Georgia Eye Bank has provided over 60,000 sight-restoring corneas, with more than 2,000 corneas transplanted each year, achieving a success rate of over 90% in restoring vision.
