Our Story
The Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative (GAFSC) was established in 1998 to address the pressing needs of at-risk families and children in Northwest Washington, D.C. With the support of the D.C. child welfare agency, GAFSC engaged local residents, conducted thorough needs assessments, and formed a governance body to guide its initiatives. In 2002, GAFSC became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to advocating for low-income families and implementing effective community practices.
Impact
GAFSC empowers children, youth, and families to thrive in a multicultural community, fostering long-term family wellbeing with reduced reliance on formal services.
