Our Story

The George Wiley Center, founded in 1981 by anti-poverty activist Henry Shelton, embodies the values of George Wiley, a champion of Civil and Welfare Rights. This grassroots organization focuses on empowering low-income Rhode Islanders to advocate for systemic changes that alleviate poverty.
