Our Story

The Genesee Valley Audubon Society began in the early 1970s as a grassroots effort to protect Black Creek Park from becoming a landfill. Since its incorporation in 1975, GVAS has inspired community involvement in environmental conservation through various initiatives.

Through community clean-up events and invasive species management, GVAS has significantly improved local ecosystems and aided in the recovery of species like the North American River Otter and Peregrine Falcon.
