Our Story

The Genesee County Prevention Coalition, originally known as the Genesee Alcohol and Addiction Prevention Coalition, was established in 2007 in response to the State of Michigan’s Strategic Prevention Framework. This initiative aimed to combat alcohol-related crashes and underage drinking in Genesee County. Over the years, the Coalition has broadened its focus to encompass various substance use prevention initiatives, fostering partnerships that promote healthy, safe, and productive lives for all residents.

Impact

Through dedicated efforts, the Coalition has significantly reduced alcohol-related traffic fatalities and serious injuries, improved access to prescription drug collection sites, and heightened community awareness regarding substance misuse. These initiatives have led to a marked decrease in underage drinking and prescription drug misuse among local youth.
