Our Story

Generous Hands Inc. began in 2004 when ten women from a local Bible study united to combat hunger among children in Vicksburg, Michigan. Their mission was simple yet profound: to provide backpacks filled with nutritious food to children at risk of going hungry over the weekends. Starting with just twenty children at Sunset Lake Elementary School, the initiative quickly expanded to all five schools in the Vicksburg Community Schools district. By the 2015-2016 school year, over 330 children in Vicksburg and 148 in surrounding communities benefited from the Friday Pack program.

Impact

In 2023, Generous Hands made a significant difference by providing food and hygiene items to numerous families and supporting 335 area students with weekly packs. Various community events further demonstrated the organization's commitment to enhancing local children's nutritional and educational well-being.
