Our Story

Founded in 2009 by Iowa teens, Generation Spirit, originally known as The Sparkle Effect, began as a grassroots initiative to create inclusive spirit teams that unite students with and without disabilities. Inspired by Sarah Cronk, who established the first inclusive cheerleading team at her high school, the organization has since launched over 225 teams across 31 states, directly involving more than 20,000 students and impacting millions more. Generation Spirit is dedicated to fostering an inclusive mindset and transforming school culture.
