Our Story

Gender Equality New York, Inc. (GENY) is a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on supporting transgender, gender non-binary, and intersex (TGNBI) individuals and their families across New York State. Founded by passionate community advocates, GENY emerged from years of tireless advocacy for transgender civil rights, culminating in the successful passage of the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA) in 2019. Through public forums and community engagement, GENY aims to educate, advocate, connect, and empower the TGNBI community.

Impact

Since its inception, GENY has held 21 public forums statewide, fostering understanding and support for TGNBI issues. The organization’s efforts have significantly influenced social attitudes, creating a more inclusive environment for all New Yorkers.
