Our Story
Founded in 1974 by Arlene MacDonald and passionate animal advocates, Rescue Village, originally known as The Geauga County Humane Society, has grown from a small group sheltering animals in private homes to a dedicated facility serving the community. The organization focuses on creating a more humane world through rescue, rehabilitation, and education.
Impact
In 2021, Rescue Village welcomed over 5,000 visitors and successfully adopted out 1,486 animals. The organization performed thousands of surgeries and vaccinations, investigated over 1,400 animal cruelty complaints, and hosted community events like Woofstock, which brought together thousands of animal lovers.
