Our Story
Founded in 1984, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank was established to meet the urgent need for food assistance during economic hardship. Initially responding to the rising number of individuals seeking help from local churches and social agencies, the Food Bank has evolved significantly, expanding its services to feed the hungry across Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes.
Impact
In 2023, the Food Bank distributed over 11.1 million meals and 14.4 million pounds of food, thanks to the dedication of 14,513 volunteers who contributed 56,327 hours of service.
