The Green Bay Action Sports Organization (GBASO) was founded by Brian Schroeder, who envisioned a safe and accessible indoor skatepark for action sports enthusiasts in Green Bay, Wisconsin. After discovering the lack of safe skateparks in the area, Brian's mission began to take shape following the skate competition "Going Big in the Bay." Despite initial skepticism and financial challenges, Brian's determination led him to a closed skate camp in Cable, WI, where he secured donated materials to build the skatepark.

In the summer of 2013, volunteers rallied together to dismantle the old "Lake Owen" park, but faced a significant hurdle when they needed to transport the materials back to Green Bay. With the help of generous donations, including trucks for transportation and a new building on Ashland Avenue, the dream of creating the largest skatepark north of Milwaukee became a reality. On March 15, 2014, GBASO opened its doors, welcoming a diverse community of action sports enthusiasts.

Over the years, GBASO has transformed into more than just a skatepark; it has become a family-oriented hub where everyone is accepted, regardless of age, appearance, identity, or skill level. Brian's legacy continued even after his passing in January 2021, as the community came together to establish a new and improved facility at 2351 Holmgren Way, ensuring that his vision lives on.
