Our Story
Founded in 2012 by Bill Gaylord and Sam Hansen, the Gaylord-Hansen Community Foundation began as a small initiative to provide new shoes to children in low-income areas of San Diego. Recognizing the struggles faced by families who could not afford basic necessities, Bill and Sam launched the Annual Shoe Event, which has since provided over 5,000 pairs of shoes to children in need. This initiative not only addressed a critical need but also inspired a broader mission to enrich the community.
As the foundation grew, so did its vision. The Gaylord-Hansen Community Foundation expanded its services to meet the diverse needs of the community, focusing on human, societal, educational, cultural, and environmental support. The foundation is driven by a commitment to G.I.V.E. back, fostering partnerships that empower individuals and create opportunities for all.
