Our Story

The Gathering Place was founded in 2000 by Eileen Saffran, who recognized the unmet psychosocial needs of individuals and families affected by cancer. With a background in social work and personal experience with cancer in her family, Eileen led a grassroots effort to create a supportive community that addresses the mind, body, and spirit of those impacted by cancer.

Impact

Since its inception, The Gathering Place has served over 47,000 individuals and families, providing more than 371,000 visits. The organization has raised over $42 million through community support and has expanded its reach through virtual programs, connecting families from all 50 states and beyond.
