Our Story

Founded in 1995 by Rev Jean De Dieu Nzeyimana and Dr. Pauline Mukeshimana, Gate of Hope Ministries International emerged from the ashes of the Rwandan genocide. Initially a sanctuary for survivors to pray and heal, the organization has evolved to address the pressing needs of those rebuilding their lives. With a focus on education and economic empowerment, GHMI serves women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable populations. Relocating to Louisville, KY in 2003, GHMI now supports East African refugees in their journey towards integration and self-sufficiency.

Our Impact

GHMI plays a crucial role in the lives of over 900 refugees annually, providing essential services that foster integration and community development. Through trauma recovery programs, educational initiatives, and economic empowerment, the organization significantly uplifts vulnerable populations, helping them thrive in their new environment.
