Our Story

Gardens for Health International was founded by Julie Carney, Emma Clippinger, and Dr. Emily Morell, driven by the belief that integrating agriculture and nutrition into the health system is essential for treating and preventing malnutrition. Inspired by the story of a little girl named Foybi, the founders focused on children and collaborated with health clinics to meet patients at the point of care. Since 2009, GHI has been dedicated to improving nutrition in Rwanda by partnering with local communities.

Our Impact

Gardens for Health International has positively impacted over 91,900 families, distributing more than 97,000 agricultural inputs and conducting over 8,000 health, nutrition, and agriculture sessions. The organization has successfully implemented programs across multiple districts in Rwanda, significantly enhancing child nutrition and health outcomes.
