Garden Club of Jacksonville
EIN: 59-0520717 · Jacksonville, FL
Our Story
Inspired by the gardens of Europe, Ninah May Holden Cummer gathered a group of 17 friends in her Riverside home on March 25, 1922, to establish the Garden Club of Jacksonville. This initiative aimed to create a more beautiful city through garden research and civic engagement. Initially meeting in members' homes, the club quickly expanded, leading to the formation of garden circles and a focus on city planning.
Impact
The Garden Club of Jacksonville has significantly enhanced the city's beauty through various civic projects, including the preservation of historic trees and revitalization of city parks. The club also supports community gardening initiatives and offers educational programs for all ages.
