Our Story

Founded in 1924 by seven passionate friends, the Garden Club of Houston has dedicated nearly a century to enhancing the beauty of Houston and fostering a love for gardening. Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2024, the club has evolved from a small gathering into a significant institution that influences both public and private landscapes across the city. Through educational meetings, workshops, and community engagement, the club has remained committed to its mission of improving the environment and promoting horticultural knowledge.

Impact

Over the past century, the Garden Club of Houston has made remarkable strides in conservation and beautification efforts. The club has collaborated with organizations like the Audubon Society to establish bird sanctuaries and has contributed to numerous civic projects, including the beautification of Tranquility Park and the grounds of the Autry Hospital. With thousands of volunteer hours and millions of dollars invested back into the community, the club continues to protect and restore Houston's fragile ecosystem.
