Our Story
In December 1995, a young Bible college student at Victory Baptist Church in North Augusta, SC, felt a deep burden for the homeless in Augusta, GA. Travis Sharpe began sharing the Gospel on the streets, and by early 1996, he was joined by Hank Miskelly to form the "City Bus Route," transporting men to church services. This initiative quickly expanded to include clothing distribution and a summer sports program, fostering a community of support.
In September 1998, the "Weekend of Hope" program was launched, providing shelter for men seeking refuge from the streets. This initiative laid the groundwork for the Garden City Rescue Mission, which officially opened on April 4, 2001. Today, the mission continues to offer hope and transformation through faith-based support.
