Our Story
The Gilbert and Sullivan Company of El Paso, founded in 1969 by artistic director Joan Quarm, has been a beacon of cultural enrichment in the El Paso region for over 50 years. The company made its debut with the operetta Patience in 1970 and has since captivated audiences with the timeless works of W. S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan. Initially performing at the Upstairs Theater Downtown, G&S El Paso has graced various venues, including the Chamizal National Memorial Park Theater and the historic Scottish Rite Theater, showcasing local talent and fostering a love for operetta.
In recent years, the company has found a home at the Black Box Theatre, where it continues to engage audiences from El Paso, Juárez, and Las Cruces. G&S El Paso is committed to making theater accessible to all, celebrating diverse backgrounds and traditions through the magic of performance.
