Empowering Latinx Youth for a Brighter Future

Founded in 1982, Future Leaders of America (FLA) emerged as a grassroots response to the alarming rates of high school dropouts, gang involvement, and substance abuse among Latinx youth in Oxnard and Santa Barbara County. Recognizing the lack of role models and leaders within the community, FLA has dedicated itself to fostering leadership, education, and advocacy among young people. Through year-round programming, including University Seminars, Youth Groups, Facilitator Training, and Family Leadership Camps, FLA has transformed the lives of over 9,400 unduplicated youth across California.

With the support of FLA, many Latinx youth have gained admission to prestigious universities such as Columbia, Berkeley, Stanford, and Harvard, paving the way for successful careers as lawyers, educators, and community leaders. FLA continues to empower youth to overcome systemic barriers and achieve their full potential.
