Our Story
In the spring of 1980, a dedicated group of Santa Barbara donors and activists came together to establish The Fund for Santa Barbara. This initiative was born from a shared vision to support organizations in Santa Barbara County that are committed to progressive social change. The Fund's journey has been marked by significant milestones, including its independence as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 1985 and the establishment of the Endowment Fund for the Future in 1992. Over the years, The Fund has launched impactful programs such as Youth Making Change in 2008 and the Mickey Flacks Social Housing Fund in 2020.
Impact
To date, The Fund for Santa Barbara has raised over $1,015,817 to empower local nonprofits through initiatives like SB Gives. The organization has also established critical funds addressing issues such as immigrant legal defense and housing justice.
