Empowering Children Through Golf
What began in 2013 as a student leadership project has blossomed into a vital program that supports children with disabilities in Rhode Island. Full Swing Golf RI partners children aged 3-21 with golf professionals, physical therapists, and other specialists to teach them the game of golf at the accessible Button Hole Golf Course. This initiative not only focuses on the mechanics of the game but also tailors the approach to meet each child's unique challenges, ensuring personalized, one-on-one attention.
Golf serves as a powerful tool for building confidence and providing a recreational outlet for children facing social stigmas. Full Swing Golf RI has successfully worked with children with various disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, and developmental delays. The program goes beyond just golf events; it also invests in adaptive equipment and provides financial assistance for mobility aids, enhancing the overall experience for participants.
