Our Story
In 1994, photographer Kenro Izu was profoundly affected by the tragic loss of a young girl who died due to the inability to afford a $2 medicine. This heartbreaking experience led to the founding of Friends Without A Border, an organization dedicated to ensuring that every child receives compassionate and free medical care. With the establishment of Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia and Lao Friends Hospital for Children in Laos, the mission to treat children as if they were one’s own has become a reality.
Impact
Since its inception, Angkor Hospital for Children has treated nearly 2 million children and trained thousands of healthcare professionals, earning recognition as one of Cambodia's essential healthcare institutions. Lao Friends Hospital for Children serves over 30,000 cases annually, providing critical healthcare services to the children of northern Laos.
