Our Story

Friends United with the Richmond Shelter Inc, known as FURS, is an all-volunteer dog rescue and adoption group founded in 2001. This grassroots organization is committed to the careful and permanent adoption of dogs rescued from euthanizing shelters and other high-risk situations. FURS focuses on dogs of all ages and breeds, particularly those requiring medical treatment or having special needs. The commitment to FURS dogs lasts a lifetime, ensuring that every adopted dog is welcomed back if needed.
