Animal Rescue

Our Story

Friends United in Rescue was born from a community's resilience after a devastating tornado struck Rowlett, TX, on December 26, 2015. The founder, deeply affected by the disaster, began rescuing displaced pets, reuniting them with their families. This mission expanded to include rescuing animals during hurricanes and wildfires, as well as aiding local homeless and injured animals.

In 2018, amidst the California Wildfire known as Camp Fire, the organization formed Friends of Camp Fire Cats to address the urgent need for animal rescue in Butte County. With the support of generous donors, a base camp was established in Paradise, allowing continued rescue efforts for 10 months. Transitioning to a nationwide nonprofit, the organization rebranded as FUR~Friends United in Rescue, committed to ending animal homelessness for the long haul.
