Our Story

The WNC Nature Center connects people with the animals and plants of the Southern Appalachian Mountain region. Since its grand opening in May 1977, it has inspired appreciation and nurtured understanding of the region’s rich biodiversity.

Home to sixty species of wild and domestic animals and hundreds of plant species, the Nature Center provides educational opportunities for all ages, fostering a sense of responsibility for native wildlife and habitats.
