The Friends of the St. Clair River was established in the late 1990s to address pollution in the St. Clair River, designated as an Area of Concern in 1985. After a brief dissolution due to budget cuts, the organization was revitalized in 2007, focusing on community education, environmental monitoring, and stewardship.
