Friends of the Poor

Our Story

Founded in 1982 by Dr. Anita Figueredo, Friends of the Poor is a non-denominational service organization dedicated to alleviating poverty and suffering in Tijuana, Mexico. Inspired by the struggles of those displaced by flooding, the organization partners with volunteer relief workers to provide essential funds, material goods, medicines, and food.

Our Impact

Friends of the Poor has successfully provided food, clothing, and medical assistance to thousands in Tijuana through sustainable projects like Casa de Los Pobres and Hospital San Ignacio. The organization collaborates with the Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa, to enhance its mission of serving the impoverished.
