Our Story

The Friends of the Phoenix Public Library was founded in 1977 by dedicated volunteers who recognized the need for additional support for the growing library system in Phoenix. Their mission is to promote, enhance, and expand library services for the benefit of the community.

Impact

Supporting all 17 public libraries in Phoenix, the Friends have raised over $1 million to complete the new central library and successfully campaigned against library closures during budget cuts, ensuring continued access to vital library services.
