Transforming Lives Through Long-Term Mentorship

Friends of the Children - Twin Cities is dedicated to supporting children ages 4 to 6 in Hennepin and Ramsey counties who identify as Black and Indigenous. These children have been impacted by systems such as child welfare or the justice system. The organization envisions a future where every child at high risk of childhood adversity has a Friend—a long-term, salaried professional mentor who stays with them from preschool through high school graduation, providing unwavering support for over 12 years.

Proven Impact on Youth Development

With a revolutionary approach to youth mentoring, Friends of the Children - Twin Cities has achieved remarkable outcomes: 92% of youth enroll in post-secondary education, 83% earn a high school diploma or GED, and 93% remain free from juvenile justice system involvement. These statistics highlight the effectiveness of sustained, nurturing relationships in fostering resilience and success.
