Our Story

Friends of the Children–He Sapa launched in summer 2022 as the first Indigenous-led, culturally specific location of the national Friends of the Children network. This organization is dedicated to creating generational change through long-term mentorship, focusing on children and families facing significant obstacles to belonging and well-being.

Impact

With a proven track record, 92% of youth enrolled go on to pursue post-secondary education, serve in the military, or enter the workforce. Additionally, 83% earn a high school diploma or GED, and 93% remain free from juvenile justice system involvement.
