Our Story
Founded in 1970, the Friends of the Boise Public Library emerged from a community desire to transform the library into a vibrant center for learning, recreation, and information. Over the decades, this dedicated nonprofit has organized annual book sales, operated the Tree City Books bookstore, and engaged the community to support library initiatives. With over $3 million raised for library facilities, collections, programs, and staff education, the Friends proudly celebrated 50 years of service in 2020, coinciding with the Boise Public Library's 125th anniversary. The commitment to fostering a love for reading and learning continues to thrive in Boise.
