Our Story

In 2011, Dana Loseke rallied local Sierra Club members to enhance South Dakota’s Blood Run State Park. A conversation about the Big Sioux River's contamination sparked a commitment to clean water, leading to the formation of Friends of the Big Sioux River in 2015. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focuses on raising awareness and engaging stakeholders to drive change, with the ambitious goal of making the river 'Swimmable by 2025.'

Our Impact

Through collaboration with the state of South Dakota and local communities, Friends of the Big Sioux River advocates for a healthy watershed and clean water for all.
