Founded in February 1999 by three passionate animal lovers, the Friends of the Animal Center Foundation (FACF) was established to raise funds and train volunteers to support the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center. Recognizing the insufficient city budget for homeless, abused, and neglected animals, FACF began as a grassroots organization with just $500. Today, it has pledged $1 million towards a new Animal Center, fulfilling a long-held dream.
