Our Story

Friends of the Powerhouse is a dedicated group of volunteers committed to raising funds through personal asks and creative community events. This organization supports the City of Del Mar in preserving and enhancing the Powerhouse Community Center, Beach Safety Center/Lifeguard Tower, Tot Lot, and surrounding public recreational areas. Evolving from the Powerhouse Restoration Committee formed in the late 1980s, they have successfully raised over $3,000,000 for various projects and initiatives in the Del Mar area.

Impact

Through their efforts, Friends of the Powerhouse has transformed the Powerhouse Community Center and its surroundings into a civic treasure, significantly enhancing the quality of life for Del Mar residents and visitors alike. Key projects include the renovation of the Tot Lot and the construction of the Beach Safety Center/Lifeguard Tower.
