Friends of Mississippi Veterans was established in 2007 to support the state’s veterans, beginning with the creation of two veterans cemeteries in Newton and Kilmichael. With over 200,000 veterans in Mississippi, these cemeteries provide a dignified resting place for those who served. Today, FOMV focuses on enhancing the lives of veterans in state nursing homes and participating in the Wreaths Across America program, ensuring that their sacrifices are honored.
FOMV volunteers visit veterans in nursing homes annually, providing gifts and companionship. The organization also sponsors the Wreaths Across America program, placing live Christmas wreaths on every veteran’s grave in our cemeteries, honoring their service and sacrifice.
