Our Story

Friends of Marblehead’s Abandoned Animals (FOMAA) is a dedicated non-profit organization established by passionate volunteers in Marblehead. This no-kill shelter provides food, shelter, medical care, and loving homes to the many animals abandoned or brought to us each year. Founded in 1993, FOMAA operates solely on the generous donations of animal lovers and adoption fees, which do not fully cover our costs. Every dollar raised goes directly to the care and placement of these animals, as we have no paid staff.

Our Impact

In 2017 alone, FOMAA successfully found homes for 42 cats, 52 kittens, 3 dogs, 5 birds, 2 guinea pigs, 4 rabbits, and 1 turtle.

Donations are vital for the care and feeding of our animals. Contributions can be made in honor of special occasions or in memory of loved ones. Each donation is acknowledged with a special commemorative card and listed in our newsletter and on our website.
