Reducing Isolation Among Seniors
Promoting Mental and Physical Health
Providing Social Events and Educational Programs

Our Story

In the summer of 2010, Rita Shah, a dedicated social worker in Burlington, Massachusetts, recognized the profound loneliness experienced by her parents-in-law and other older family members, immigrants from India. To combat this isolation, she organized a group of seniors to meet regularly, share meals, and cultivate friendships. With the support of passionate community leaders like Mahendra Jhaveri, Ramesh Naidu, Dinesh Shah, and Suryakant Gandhi, the Friends of Indian Senior Citizens Organization (FISCO) was born. This nonprofit organization aims to assist in the socialization of older Asian Indians, fostering connections and reducing isolation.

Our Impact

FISCO’s mission is to provide companionship, connection, and compassion to senior Asian immigrants, helping them maintain good physical and mental health. By creating a friendly and loving atmosphere, FISCO addresses the unique challenges faced by seniors in the community.
