Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space was established in 1987 to combat suburban sprawl threatening local open spaces. Through community engagement and partnerships, significant areas like Curlis Lake Woods and Baldpate Mountain have been preserved.

FoHVOS has successfully preserved over 1,200 acres of land, enhancing the quality of life in Hopewell Valley and providing recreational opportunities for the community.
