Our Story
Friends of Guéoul was founded by Judy Beggs after her transformative experience in the Peace Corps in Guéoul, Senegal. Recognizing the urgent need for educational support for girls, the organization began by providing scholarships to marginalized girls. Over the years, it has expanded its programs to include supplemental education, computer skills training, and English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher training.
Impact
Each year, Friends of Guéoul successfully provides scholarships to 14 marginalized girls, enabling them to stay in school and pursue higher education. To date, the organization has supported 167 students, with 17 currently attending university.
