Our Story

Friends of Granger Paths emerged from a community visioning meeting in 2002, led by County Councilman Dale De Von. Collaborating with local residents, St. Joseph County, the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG), the Granger Business Association, and Ball State University, FGP developed a comprehensive plan to create a network of paths that would connect the community. The first 5K Run/Walk was held in 2006 to raise awareness and funds for this vision. Since then, FGP has secured significant grants, including the Bikes Belong Grant and Safe Routes to School Grant, enabling the development of vital community paths.

Our Impact

In 2024, FGP successfully raised over $18,000 to construct a new trail linking the Fountain Blue neighborhood to North Point Elementary School. This project was completed in August 2024, culminating in a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony.
