Our Story
Founded in 2019, Friends of Clarksburg Services and Recreation emerged from a passionate group of community members dedicated to restoring the Clarksburg Community Pool and enhancing recreational opportunities for families in the North Delta region. Clarksburg, a historic community settled in 1849, has long been a hub for local education and recreation, with schools like Delta High School and Clarksburg Middle School serving hundreds of children and families daily.
For over 50 years, the Clarksburg Community Pool was a cherished gathering place, offering swimming lessons, swim teams, and a sunny retreat for residents. However, in the early 2000s, the pool fell into disrepair and was ultimately closed due to funding challenges faced by the River Delta Unified School District. The once vibrant pool was filled with dirt, leaving a void in community recreation.
Recognizing the need for revitalization, the Friends of Clarksburg Services and Recreation is committed to establishing the North Delta Community Park and Aquatic Center. This initiative aims to restore recreational opportunities and foster community engagement in Clarksburg.
