Founded in 2006 by Dr. Catherine Wolf and nurse Cherlie Severe, Friends for Health in Haiti Inc. began its mission to provide essential medical services in a remote mountain area outside Jérémie, Haiti. After assessing the health needs of 16 communities, the organization opened the Gatineau Health Center in August 2007, focusing on holistic health improvement through curative care, preventive services, and community support.
Since its inception, the Gatineau Health Center has served over 25,000 patients, totaling nearly 100,000 visits. By employing a community-based model, the organization empowers local residents to actively participate in addressing their health needs.
