Our Story
The Fried Center for the Advancement of Potential (FCAP) was founded in 2013, inspired by Jon Fried's journey in the Special Olympics. After overcoming a misdiagnosis, Jon's experience led to the creation of FCAP, dedicated to providing individualized fitness plans for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Partnering with the University of Virginia, FCAP offers kinesiology students hands-on experience, fostering a supportive environment for both clients and interns.
Impact
FCAP delivers one-on-one medically-based fitness sessions, significantly enhancing the health and well-being of individuals with intellectual disabilities. The integration of student interns into the program has proven successful, with 98% of interns gaining acceptance into top graduate programs.
