Transforming Lives Through Workforce Development
In the heart of Fresno, the Fresno Area Workforce Investment Corporation, known as Workforce Connection, is dedicated to empowering individuals through comprehensive job training and placement services. One inspiring story is that of Alexis Rowberry, a single mother who arrived in Fresno with her two children, seeking a better life. After facing numerous challenges, including living in a shelter, Alexis discovered the Multi-Craft Pre-Apprenticeship Program, a partnership between the Fresno Workforce Development Board and the Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare Counties Building Trades Council.
With determination, Alexis enrolled in the six-week program and graduated in October 2019. This opportunity opened doors for her, leading to an apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Today, she works on significant projects, including a solar farm and a school’s air conditioning remodel, showcasing her skills and dedication.
Alexis's journey from hardship to stability exemplifies the impact of Workforce Connection's programs. By providing training and support, individuals like Alexis can achieve financial independence and contribute positively to their communities.
